What is happening in Gaza is a tragedy. One doesn't have to be on one side or the other to see that.
It is reported that 15,000 children have been killed since the Israeli invasion or since the massacre at the music festival, whichever point of injury is important to you.
But, the problem as I see it is Netanyahu. He has somehow persuaded many Israelis, perhaps the majority, that the only way they will ever have security is to destroy Gaza and the Hamas entirely. They must be completely annihilated. There is no other option. Unfortunately, many Israelis agree with him.
In my opinion, the world cannot go along with the view of Benjamin Netanyahu. They must intervene. An eye for an eye and a massacre for a massacre is not the answer.

(32,090 posts)and yes it seems he may view it that way. But I hope you understand the view of Hamas (and it's supporters going back decades) - is that Israel must be destroyed. You and I could go to Google and pull up plenty of cites showing this from both sides.
We need diplomacy and we're not getting it - all we're seeing is massacres, hostages, bombing, killing of both military & civilians. Plenty of blame to go around.
Bill Clinton is the only one who even came close in my lifetime, and then of course Rabin was assassinated (and I do remember Netanyahu's involvement in the right-wing activities at that time). It's extremely frustrating to watch the endless circle of violence begetting more violence. Bernie Sanders has been screaming into the void for many years about a 2-state solution, but I feel like he's right. Distance/separation may be the only way to move forward given the hostilities on both sides. Hopefully our children and grandchildren could work on peace if we can at least stop the immediate carnage.
