I keep wondering, are there many in the crowd who are not students/faculty??? Agitators?
TexasDem69
(1,850 posts)The students dont need any agitators to make them look any worse.

(212 posts)As has be noted, it could be COVID protection (the servers at my local coffee shop tend to wear them), could be a (throwback) look/fashion, could be an attempt to thwart surveillance by whatever authority. Israeli private-sector surveillance software (facial recognition) is among the "best" on the market and widely used. One might expect surveillance from other entities as well, not the least of which is the U.S. government. Protesting may become a crime if Trump wins, for example, and who knows if they'd abolish the ex post facto limitations on prosecution/persecution. At present I tend to wear a mask in protest for all of those reasons. You?

(3,042 posts)If you want to harass Jewish students on campuses and tell them to go back to Poland, do it with your whole face out.

(7,905 posts)Just stop threatening and vilifying other people who are just trying to live their lives. Stop terrorizing people telling them you are Hamas. Don't do this.
FFS there's a huuuuge difference between saying I see the Palestinians plight, and declaring that you are Hamas.

Telling Jewish students that Oct 7th will be repeated over and over?
Yeah. They are more similar than you want to believe.

(6,123 posts)But, as yet, I haven't seen any evidence that they've lynched innocent black men, leaving their corpses to rot in the trees.

(6,123 posts)a group that terrorized and continues to terrorize mostly black people in the US is very insulting to the African American community. Don't minimize their suffering from a group that was formed to commit violence on ine group of people. Black people. They hate Jews, too. But the origin of the group was specifically formed just to terrorize the formerly enslaved people in the southern US. It's actually very insulting to compare these protesters to the kkk.

That is not what I said or meant.

ripcord
(5,553 posts)But, again, comparing them to the kkk is insulting to African-Americans. The kkk was formed to terrorize formerly enslaved people. Sure, they hate anyone not white christian, but their formation was only to put the former slaves in their rightful place. By any means neccessary.
AZSkiffyGeek
(11,097 posts)Nice choice of words there
Lunabell
(6,123 posts)This is still America, as much as I despise anything they say, they are not violence. Or an illegal call to violence. They are deplorable and I absolutely think they're trash.
My argument is that the kkk was formed to terrorize black people who were formerly enslaved. Comparing these antisemitic fuckers to the kkk is not justifiable. Nazi? Yes. I think comparing them to the kkk diminishes their terrorism to the African American community.

Yes antisemitic and despicable. But, not even close to the kkk.
AZSkiffyGeek
(11,097 posts)Maybe you should look at what happened on Oct 7 and see what the people these not all that bad bigots are cheering on did.

Rabbi advises Jewish students to return home as soon as possible following reports of extreme antisemitism on and around campus
Students have reported a rise in antisemitic incidents in the days following the Thursday sweep of the Gaza Solidarity Encampment.
A University spokesperson wrote in a statement to Spectator that As President Shafik has said repeatedly, the safety of our community is our number one priority.
Columbia students have the right to protest, but they are not allowed to disrupt campus life or harass and intimidate fellow students and members of our community, the spokesperson wrote. We are acting on concerns we are hearing from our Jewish students and are providing additional support and resources to ensure that our community remains safe.
Pro-Israel counterprotesters stood on the Sundial on Saturday evening waving Israeli and U.S. flags and playing Israeli and Jewish music and the U.S. national anthem from a loudspeaker. In front of the Sundial, an individual held a sign reading Al-Qasams Next Targets with an arrow pointing at the protesters. Al-Qassam is the military wing of Hamas.
Other individuals at the Sundial referred to the Israeli flags as Nazi flags, according to another video.

(6,123 posts)A group formed for one reason: to terrorize and commit violence against the black community. Yeah, their hate branched out but the intent of this group was to put formerly enslaved people "back in their place" by any means necessary.
It's insulting to the African American community to forget about that fact.

(25,603 posts)Hamas targets infrastructure, it has rockets, bombs. Heck it would have an atomic bomb if they could get one. They're a criminal organization through and through who engage in Mafia-style government. They eat their own. They don't care about their own. They use human shields.
The KKK is vile, but their scope is limited because our government has control over them. These Hamas guys run ramshot all over the place. They're a dystopian nightmare. They're engaged in international crime. They're engaged in financial crimes and money laundering. They are the judge and jury of everything. AND they refuse to surrender or even return the hostages!!

The only difference that I see between Nazis and the KKK is the target group and the number of people tortured and exterminated.
