In interviews with Business Insider, Republican campaign strategists cited the GOP's data disadvantage as a central weakness holding the party back.
"As the Republican Party determines what it's going to do with itself, how it is going to restructure, the clock continues to tick," said Cyrus Krohn, a former director of digital strategy for the Republican National Committee and co-founder of the microtargeting startup Crowdverb. "This is a problem that we cannot wait until six months before the midterm cycle to address."
Once a Republican campaign strength Karl Rove was known for his mastery of microtargeting during George W. Bush's presidential campaigns Krohn explained that Democrats made a concerted effort to catch up technologically after the 2004 election, using dynamic data to complement the static data used by Republicans.
The result, Krohn said, is a powerful apparatus with years of data insights, which far surpasses anything that has been developed on the Republican side.

(16,230 posts)3. I think it could be argued that those principles are part of what lead to the tech failures.
If you're skeptical of things like math and science, you may have difficulty employing math and science in your campaigns.
If they're going to push the idea that it was a tech failure, then the response is to frame it (truthfully) as that tech failure arising out of their fundamental principles.
People who understand and respect math and science don't tend to gravitate towards the contemporary Republican party. They have a built in disadvantage on this.
They thought that throwing enough money around would overcome that. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were wrong.
