Did the court have to be as concerned with juror intimidation and interference in the courtroom and outside as much for the Teflon Don as they do for this miscreant, tinhorn Mussolini/Al Capone? Im certain there were issues but I doubt if unconnected individuals were a threat, but perhaps Im wrong.
This is beyond the pale. These people are afraid for their lives from a guy who is running for President.

(1,066 posts)The one who was convicted of taking a bribe literally received $60,000 in an actual (not proverbial) paper bag from Sammy Gravano through the Westies.
The whole trial was a clown show, largely because the jurors were gotten to. The myth of the Teflon Don resides in that acquittal.

(1,066 posts)His brother Gene ended up doing almost 30 years when he could have been out in 10 if he pleaded. He refused (on Gotti's orders), so went down for the full 30. Both his boys went to prison. Here's the thing about Gotti: he was a fucking idiot. Brutal as all get-out, and that will get you places in those circles, just having the absolute balls to do anything. But in terms of smarts, planning, craft? A big dummy.
