6. Federal judges are subect to impeachment by the U.S. House of Representatives.

In the country's history, 15 federal judges have been impeached. Eight were convicted and removed from the bench. The latest was in 2010 in Louisiana, where G. Thomas Porteous, Jr. was impeached for corrupt conduct, making false statements, and knowingly making materially false statements about his past. So, it can be done.

An investigation of Cannon's handling of this case is imperative. That investigation should take place in the House Judiciary Committee, once Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives.

If Cannon is taking "guidance" from outside sources she should be impeached and tried in the U.S. Senate. Unless there are 68 senators who are Democrats, conviction would be doubtful. But that doesn't mean the investigation and impeachment shouldn't occur.
