Tomorrow I head off to the Cleveland Clinic for a full day of testing about my Lung Transplant

This is a big one because this is the first one I have a sit-down (lay-down?) with the shrink.

Anyway, we will get there at 7:30 and have a ton of tests and meetings. by the end of the day I will have some idea of how the process proceeds from here on end.

DU has been a godsend to me, a place where I could escape from the troubles of the day and jump into a world that is far removed from my day to day hum drum.

So know this, I will be thinking about DU all day long. Thank you all for being there for me over these last 8 years. I don't think I would have been able to deal with all of this if I didn't have this place to prop me up...

I was one of her "primary" support team persons. I was there for every appointment. Every step of the way, including the months of recuperation.

I was both honored and humbled by the experience but I'd be happy to help if you need any "DU advice"....

Thinking of you today and in the weeks ahead...

My best friend had a lung transplant several years ago. It extended her life for at least 10 more years.

Another friend had a lung and heart transplant about 20 years ago and he is still going strong. He has participated in an Olympics for transplant patients and played tennis.

Go for it!!

My partner and I have made several visits recently to the main campus of the Cleveland Clinic for his cancer treatment. Please be advised to leave earlier than you think is necessary, the traffic can get backed up very badly at this time in the morning on most of the major freeways near downtown Cleveland, and if you're more than about 15 minutes late, the clinic will reschedule your appointment. We're about 60 minutes (60 miles) away from the clinic, but we leave about two and half hours before our appointments, sometimes we get there with but 15 minutes to spare.

That said, I'm willing to bet you'll have a very positive experience with the Cleveland Clinic. Everybody there, and I do mean everybody, was professional, courteous, kind, prompt, and caring. In fact, I've never had any experience with any health care provider that even comes close to the great experiences we've had there. These folks are on the ball, know exactly what they're doing, and seem to really, truly care about the people who come through their doors. You'll be treating like a human being from beginning to end. And if you read the online bios of some of the doctors and surgeons there, you'll see that they are some of the very top people in their fields anywhere on earth. It is a simply amazing place!
