Why would anyone buy a Trump Bible for $60?

If you’re a Christian, you probably have at least one or two already. I have 4 or 5, a concordance, two Luther’s Catechisms and a half dozen books on Biblical history. Why would I buy another?

By the way, I’m an atheist.

Also, they are giving money to stop the man who wants to stop Satan and the Democrats (they feel the two are working together). Having the Trump Bible in the house gives them a feeling of being "blessed" and noticed by Jesus Christ as a true believer.

I've seen his Bible ad several times today and I just can't stop laughing each time. In fact I'm laughing more each time I see it. It is like an old TV commercial on UHF on Sundays in the 70's.

In one hundred years our history is going to reflect on this ridiculous calamity and say, "What the hell were they thinking?!?". It is beyond bizarre. I've long stopped saying, "It can't get any worse, that could never happen, no way, be serious, etc.".

The REAL Story Behind the Quote “There’s a Sucker Born Every Minute”

https://medium.com/skeptikai/the-real-story-behind-the-quote-theres-a-sucker-born-every-minute-1db9a7220d34

“There’s a sucker born every minute” — P.T. Barnum’s most famous words. He is widely considered to be one of the best purveyors of entertainment in history — a genius in sales and marketing — and these words have become somewhat of a legacy. But did he ever really say them? As it turns out, we may be suckers for believing this after all.

The Quote Heard ‘round the World

Rochester Institute of Technology professor Nicholas DiFonzo described in his 2008 book The Watercooler Effect, that Barnum’s biography could not verify this attribution at all. Rather, it was likely that a banker named David Hannum from Syracuse, New York who actually said it. As described by DiFonzo (p. 124):

Most people who were fascinated by the Giant were convinced that it was a petrified man (which was not considered so far-fetched in the 19th century), or a statue made by Jesuit fathers, over three centuries prior. The fact that Hull went to great lengths to make the statue look realistic (including chiseling tiny holes in the statue to imitate pores in his skin) evidently helped.

As the story goes, Hannum purchased the “Cardiff Giant” in 1869 and displayed it for even higher admission fees. When this caught the eye of Barnum, he tried and failed to convince Hannum to sell it. This motivated Barnum to create his own version — a simple replica — and claim it to be the one true Giant, asserting that Hannum’s was a hoax. It is alleged that, at this point, Hannum said “There’s a sucker born every minute,” referring to the gullible customers of Barnum’s more successful exhibit.

P.T. Barnum’s sign to see the “original” Cardiff Giant

As for the ChumpHumpers who get suckered, well they only read the Old Testament anyway. They love those stories about getting revenge on the evil-doers. Stoning the offenders, burning the witches, an eye-for-an-eye. Jesus didn't actually believe in all of that.

Their biggest client was a fundie preacher, and the brother said nearly every flat surface in the house had a bible on it. Even in the loo, he saw one on the vanity, and another on the tank lid!

I didn't believe it. He took pictures of some of the crazier sightings and waved the snaps in my face as soon as we picked them up from the Fotomat.

So some of them never have enough bibles.

I never bought a Bible. One was a family copy and the others were given to me by different churches.

Additionally, they’re not the same editions; one is a King James, one is the Revised Standard, one is a modern translation and so on. It’s fascinating to see the differences! One version doesn’t refer to Mary as a virgin but calls her a young woman.

Wed Mar 27, 2024, 12:28 PM
Mar 27

This part stands out for the "why" behind selling it:

The “God Bless The USA Bible” received heightened attention since the outset due to its overt political features.

The text includes the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Pledge of Allegiance, and the lyrics to the chorus to Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA.” Critics saw it as a symbol of Christian nationalism, a right-wing movement that believes the U.S. was founded as a Christian nation.

Lee Greenwood performs during the 35 Years of Friends: Celebrating the Music of Michael W. Smith concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
A petition emerged in 2021 calling Greenwood’s Bible “a toxic mix that will exacerbate the challenges to American evangelicalism.” From there, a broader conversation ensued about the standards by which publishers print Bibles."
