"SNIP..........
Jen Psaki destroyed the Trump campaigns spin of his bloodbath comments by providing the full context for what Trump was talking about.
Psaki said on her MSNBC show:
If they want us to consider the full context, lets do just that because the full context is that Trump kicked off the same exact rally by saluting the people who were convicted for the deadly assault on the US Capitol on January 6th, all to the tune of the national anthem sung by a choir of imprisoned insurrectionists. The full context is that some of the first words out of Trumps mouth last night, same rally were thanking those rioters and calling them patriots. The full context is that he also said in this same rally, quote, if this election isnt won, Im not sure that youll ever have another election in this country. The full context is that he went on to say some undocumented immigrants are quote, not people. And of course, the full context is that this is much bigger than one single speech.
This embrace of political violence, this dehumanizing language. This is what Donald Trump has been preaching for years. In January, he warned that there will be quote bedlam in this country. If his criminal prosecution derailed his campaign late last year. He echoed the dehumanizing language of Adolf Hitler comparing his political opponents to vermin and saying immigrants are quote poisoning the blood of our country last month. He said there would be potential death and destruction if he was charged in the Manhattan criminal probe. And during his first term, he flat out refused to condemn the political violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia saying there were very fine people on both sides. In 2020, he reportedly asked his defense secretary about shooting people who were protesting the death of George Floyd saying, can you just shoot them, just shoot them in the legs or something? And of course, his very words inspired violence on January 6th 2021 when he told a crowd of his supporters to walk down to the Capitol and fight like hell because quote, youll never take back our country with weakness. Trust me, I could go on and on and on.

(27,600 posts)MSM is essentially only lazily looking for Trump gotcha moments. Meanwhile he praises the J6 PERPS among other horrors. Media gives crickets on these things on the regular.
We also need to be paying attention to populist 'real' content. Trump has recently struck on Chinese re-imports by Mexican companies and sprinkled this among his typical trade war rhetoric. We on the left ignore these topics at are peril, especially when victory runs through the rust belt where victory is at risk if any of these issues really stick to move 2-4%.
We misunderestimate Trump at our peril.

(24,087 posts)I'm concerned about how the radical Maga idiots interpret it. They see it as their marching orders if he loses the election once more. Just as they used his comments as an order to storm the Capitol on Jan 6th.

(1,472 posts)Trump knows the term "bloodbath" can be taken two different ways, and he means to convey both meanings. Many people will think he's speaking of financial catastrophe, which he thinks, incorrectly, will occur if he loses. And he knows the gun humping nazis and incels will think he's calling them to arms, which he hopes will happen if he loses. He's perfectly happy with both interpretations. He's a dog whistle specialist.

It is very troubling to me that his trash mouth is acceptable to so many. Not so long ago it would have immediately have ended his candidacy but now is simply discounted. I think it speaks to the damage he has done and continues to do to this nation.

(1,969 posts)I watched his BS insurrection with my own eyes. They talked about it for a month before they DID IT!! And at the end of the day people were like Who knew? They were telling us what was going to happen. It was no surprise!!!! It is insane to ignore what he is telling you with his very own words.
I was told again and again that I was over reacting to Trump's remarks about admiring dictators and saying he wanted to be one. That he was "just joking." I knew because of every single history course, political science course, and psychology course he wasn't joking
Then January 6 occurred and my instincts were dead on. He's threatened violent revenge on Democrats, he wants to be able to deport anyone he so chooses. Just because he is suffering cognitive decline on top of having narcissistic personality disorder, doesn't mean he isn't capable of being a dangerous inciter.
If those of us who believe this are wrong then we are wrong. No harm, no foul. If, however, what he says is just dismissed as just "Trump being Trump," and no steps are taken to prepare for the possibility that he either chose that phrase or was fed it by one of his handlers for it's most literal meaning," it will be too late to do anything to prevent it from becoming reality.

On the morning of January 6th I posted on FB ..A Storm is Coming with a photo I had taken from an approaching storm on my sailboat. I was not surprised at what I saw. Chump used the same strategy in 2020 when he KNEW he was going to lose. And he used it in 2016 when he was PRETTY SURE he was going to lose. (quickly back-peddled of course)

Republicans play the game of taking shit out of context to make Democrats look bad all of the time. I have no sympathy for Republicans when out-of-context info makes them look bad.
Now, if the "bloodbath" controversy is truly making Democrats look silly, that's another matter. But is it really doing that?

HCSO SAYS, ARCATA MAN ARRESTED ON CHARGES STEMMING FROM ONLINE THREATS AND ANTISEMITIC MESSAGES
Wednesday, 13 March 2024, 11:46 am Staff Redhead Blackbelt
On Jan. 8, 2024, the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office received a call from an individual reporting he and his son had received several threatening and Anti-Semitic messages on social media.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the messages were sent from 33-year-old Daniel Epperson. An arrest warrant was issued for Epperson on March 5, 2024

For those of you that think I don't understand what it was he was actually trying to say, I fucking know what he was trying to say OK? Some of you who are questioning my understanding of what he said, have known me for 15 years or more. Have I presented myself as someone who doesn't fucking get it? Who is naive, as one person said? Really? Do you folks really think I'm that fucking stupid?
LOL...don't answer that.

EarlG, If you see this, I'm sorry this got out of hand. I'm sorry I lost my temper. This is a perfect example of why I don't put up many OP's and why I don't have 100,000 posts. I chose my user name for a very specific reason; Because I do hold opinions that are contrary to the established norms.
So...I'll delete this OP, but place the text here;
Be well folks.
Trumps "Bloodbath" comment is being taken WAY too literally here and elsewhere
Look, we have all been listening to this fuckhead for better than eight years now, right? Everyone should know that he is a fucking scatterbrained dipshit who regularly says things that are non-sequiturs and out of the blue, un-related or seemingly irrelevant to the train of thought or speech he is spewing.
That he did that again the other day shouldn't be a surprise.
The term "Bloodbath" is not always meant in the way everyone seems to be taking it when used in the context of a trade war, which is the context he was speaking.
He was talking about China setting up auto plants in Mexico with the intended market of the USA. He was trying to make the point that any such trade would result in a marketing issue for them against US car makers.
I could not wish for his early death more than any of you, and I'm not trying to make his way any easier, but for fucks sake, he wasn't calling for a literal bloodbath in terms of human death. He was talking about a trade issue. And let's not forget, his understanding of such issues is about as deep as a carbuncle.
We are looking silly, frankly.
