Reba McEntire Sets Record Straight About Reportedly Calling Taylor Swift 'an Entitled Little Brat'

Reba McEntire has corrected a report alleging that she called Taylor Swift “an entitled little brat” following her Feb. 11 performance at the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

McEntire, 68, performed the national anthem at Allegiant Stadium before the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers battled it out in Super Bowl LVIII. Swift was also at the game to cheer on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Though Swift, 34, eventually made it onto the field to congratulate Kelce after the Chiefs defeated the 49ers in overtime, she was with friends in her box when McEntire performed.

On Saturday, March 16, McEntire posted a screenshot via Instagram of an America Loves Liberty Facebook post. The update shared McEntire’s reported comments about Swift's behavior before the Super Bowl game. The post, which spelled McEntire’s surname incorrectly, alleged that McEntire was “disappointed” to see Swift “laughing and drinking and making a mockery of the event” as McEntire performed the national anthem. It then quoted McEntire as saying, “I let her have it afterward. She’s an entitled little brat.”

In the caption accompanying her Instagram post, McEntire denied ever making the comments. “Please don’t believe everything you see on the Internet,” she wrote. “I did not say this.” The country music star’s post also praised Swift for her contributions to the music world. “Taylor is a wonderful artist, strong role model and has done so much good for so many people and the music industry,” McEntire said.

I am glad McEntire spoke up and cleared the record.

I saw her perform the National Anthem (which I noticed wasn’t capitalized in the article while Allegiant Stadium and nearly everything else was) and I enjoyed it throughly.

Remember they thought Taylor was their super white answer to Beyoncé. When she left country and it became clear she wasn’t what they thought, they turned on her.

I don’t know if I’d heard this but I would have dismissed it off hand.

There’s a saying in music something like this - On your way up you are appreciative and complimentary. On your way down you are nasty and trying to settle scores. If you are saying bad things about other artists, you are on your way down.

Reba doesn’t have to worry about ever being in the way down.

based on an event that never happened? The point is exposing lies and misinformation - and then you can go ahead and dislike whomever - for something that they (possibly) really said or did.

She's very talented, both as a singer and an actor. That's why she's famous, and that's what she gets paid for. There's no requirement that a talented entertainer also have an i.q. of a certain level.

building the stages and doing setup and take down, running lines etcetera. Reba played 2 shows. She was there for 2 days. Most of the artists kept to their trailers and had food taken in to them. Reba ate with the crew at the big tables. She was warm and funny. This was 1993... i think. Everyone called her Mama Reba because she was always asking how everyone was doing. I'll start by saying i don't really like country music. And i'll end by saying, she was just really nice.

designed to confuse people and malign public figures associated in any way with Democratic candidates, progressive social policies, or Constitutional Democracy.

As I said elsewhere the GOP platform and politics are a terrorist campaign intended to frighten, disturb, and intimidate. Violent, angry rhetoric and false claims of a prejudiced or broken electoral, and legal system are the order of the day. As much as the candidate of choice is a paranoid, raving egomaniac so shall we see this kind of thing get much louder, more violent, and progressively more unhinged. I fully expect to see very ugly real events generated out of this kind of propaganda.

And sadly too many of my neighbors here in the valley are buying into it.
