for various campaigns caused my name and address to be sold for even more money?
Has anyone else had the same thing happen? It's not one or two. It's 40 or 50. I can't believe there are so many catalogs out there!

(28,394 posts)I don't think it's from political contributions. If you ever ordered from any of them, they probably sold your name to all the others.

(11,415 posts)I had to cancel my card and was able to get a refund. I'm not even a truck driver. I only used this card to donate.
Catalogs? No, No catalogs.

See, I'm just wondering, because I have never had this number of totally obscure, off the wall catalogs (all spelling my name the same, with out my middle initial) and it started in September.

(11,415 posts)person who thought that they could use my card to get a sale and knew I would be compensated. I was upset though and I didn't know I would ever see that money again. It's been put back in my account. I have an investigation going on it from my credit card bank.

(26,219 posts)Same thing is happening to me. I am getting catalogues from companies I never heard of. Easily 15-20 a week. I very rarely shop online with the exception of Amazon (I pay for Prime, so check there first) and Overstock. No clue where my name and address is getting into all of these databases, but it is getting annoying.

(26,219 posts)Its worse than google ads. Buy a pair of shoes online and within 3 weeks, ~4 shoe-specific catalogues show up.

(13,933 posts)I'm sure somebody is collecting names and addresses and selling them. It's unlikely to be a campaign, and it remains to e seen why a catalog retailer would find that info any more useful than the phone book.

(18,402 posts)pretty much the usual ones I've always gotten, from stores where I've bought things in the past. I haven't gotten all that many frankly, maybe 7 or 8. And I gave many political contributions over the past year. So I don't think it's coming from those lists.
