Holiday Shoppers Flee Walmart, Flock to Labor Notes Online Store
November 23, 2012
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse, at malls across the country this morning, as millions of shoppers made a surprise exodus to the Labor Notes online store instead.
"Well, A Troublemaker's Handbook 2 is at the top of my mom's wish list," said one happy consumer as she dialed 313-842-6262, "but I'm going to surprise her and get her that great new Steward's Toolbox book too, since it's just $35 for both. I heard it's required reading for troublemakers!"
"Everybody I know needs some Troublemakers Union gear," said another cheerful buyer as he navigated to store.labornotes.org, where he planned to get a child-size T-shirt ($12) for his young nephew and a women's cut T-shirt ($15) for his favorite union steward. He ended up nabbing both for just $25 in a special holiday deal.
"Now that Labor Notes has the shirts in five colors, the hoodies in red and navy, and those adorable beanie hats," he added, "I'm never shopping at another Walmart again!"
Industry observers are forecasting an uptick in both warmth and style on winter picket lines this year, as savvy customers snap up the hoodie-beanie combination for $45.
Meanwhile, members of Elves Local 1224 were enjoying their recently-boosted overtime pay as they stuffed stockings with Troublemakers Union magnets, stickers, buttons, pint glasses, and "Tax the Rich" bumper stickers.
The elves are also adding another lump of coal to a boss's stocking for every union activist who gets her hands on Robert Schwartz's new book Just Cause: A Union Guide to Winning Discipline Cases ($20) this year and for every new Labor Notes subscription ($30).
Retail executives, barricaded in their suites by angry workers, could not be reached for comment, but were reportedly gnashing their teeth and pulling out their hair at press time.
With a possible reindeer labor dispute still pending, sources are recommending that holiday shoppers order by December 14th to ensure timely delivery.

OP
Cool store. And good prices, too. I'm referring this to some fellow unionists.
