Give Thanks You Weren't Bombed and Murdered by Americans Because You ARE Americans
By Jay Janson (about the author)

On Thanksgiving, don't forget to give thanks for being American. Give thanks that what is happening in Syria this year, Libya last year, in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia and Yemen, in years before, continuing today, and planned to happen in Iran in the immediate future, cannot happen to you in America because Americans are not about to butcher their own, at least not yet.

Give thanks that you and your children, your parents and grandparents were living in the best country in the world during the last sixty-three years and not in countries that got bombed like hell for years, for example, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Give thanks that being American, you and yours never had to suffer invasion and bombing like Dominicans, Lebanese, Panamanians, Cubans, S and Grenadines - never had to watch in fear for your family as your government was overthrown in violence covertly initiated by a superpower, like the citizens of Greece, Guatemala, Iran, Chile, Haiti had to suffer.

That you never had to fear for your children being arrested and not heard from again like most Latin Americans under military dictatorships put in by a foreign government more awesomely powerful than the world has ever seen before.

I'll be with strikers and supporters at a W-M in Downey, and I'm hoping to avoid being arrested for the crime of protesting peacefully.

What's really cool is that 187 L.A. Occupiers have signed up to be there to support the striking workers--and this is just one of at least 3 major strike actions in the L.A. area.

will be respected. You certainly earned the right to exercise them.

Take care and let us know how it goes.

I saw that Alan Grayson was out supporting the Walmart workers. I am so glad he is back in Congress.

Will be looking forward to hearing from. You all are so wonderful!

a Grand Jury, were granted 'forced immunity' taking away their right to remain silent. At least three were thrown in jail for claiming that right. One has since been released but the effort to force others to waive their Fifth amendment rights continues.

Little by little we lose rights unless we stand up for them. Ben Franklin was so right when he said 'We have given you a Constitution, it is up to you to defend it'. He understood human nature, but to our credit we probably lasted longer under that Constitution than he or many of the other FFs thought we would.

don't agree because we do have problems within this country. That is why we need to vote and put the right people in our Government. I do not blame the United States for all the World's problems either or let off Governments and fanatics in all these countries you might think are victims. I do give thanks to rationalism though.

only the problems generated by US aggression, which are considerable.

US foreign policy is a major impediment to global peace and security. It also distracts from focusing on extremely important issues, like global climate change. Only US citizens can change this, but first they have to own up.

The current administration is continuing the policy of demonizing the emerging Populist Democracies in Latin America,
and spending YOUR tax dollars supporting the few remaining Right Wing Militarized Police States, like Colombia,
the 3rd largest recipient of Foreign Aid and the beneficiary of a brand new "Free Trade" agreement.

THAT needs to "change".

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their rhetoric, promises, or excuses.

with MY tax dollars being spent to prop up the Industrial Military Complex so that they can continue to overthrow democratically elected governments, or support right wing terrorism in this hemisphere (or any other). Innocents are being bombed nearly every day with weapons paid for by US, all in the name of "freedom" *cough* *cough*.

Sure, I am grateful not to be a woman living in the middle east, and I don't need worry that a suicide bomber will take my family and friends out... but every time a parent loses a child to deadly aggression WE support 11 month old Omar Misharaw, I die a little more inside.

As the OP points out, the largest part of the suffering listed is the direct result of American policies, American NATIONAL interests. American's should be thankful we are not victims such as those listed here? Americans are criminally culpable for the suffering listed in this OP. And more and more innocents die each and every day because of US. And every time I hear of another innocent death, I die a bit more inside. I am not thankful, I am ashamed, I am mortified.

*On edit, yes, I am aware the OP is a piece of satire.
