General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have a neighbor that lives in a well-known Florida retirement community, part time.
In a completely sober conversation from her, I have learned that we have it all wrong about the education system of Florida.
The teachers are going to great lengths to teach with great explicit means just about every unusual and varied graphic sexual situation to primary school children.
Not only that, but there's also the library books issue. Evidently they are just rife with even more sexually explicit materials, complete with "how to" of all sorts of sexual behaviors. Again in the primary schools.
I started to ask how these books ended up in these libraries in the first place but, I deferred to my better instinct to take her for her word and that she believes this to be factual and not say anything.
I am not sure where she gets her information, she does believe it to be true.

(42,376 posts)Your neighbor is an idiot. Teachers barely have time to eat lunch.
Ask her where she gets this info -and, is she aware that the head of Moms for Liberty has admitted to having a 3-way with her husband an another woman? Also, does she have any grandkids in FL schools? If so, why? If they are so full of deviance, why are her grandkids in those schools?

(8,930 posts)Biden cost him $20k last year in the stock market. This was while we were on the speaker phone of another friend who was with me. I asked how did he know Biden did it and he told me it was Bidens policies negative effect on his investments. I asked him from when to when he lost the $20k, to give me a start date and a finish date he lost it, and he said wait a minute while he looked it up. At this point my friend and I were sitting there giggling because she knew I was baiting him. Then he gave me two dates, which I used to pull up a graph of the S&P index off my phone, showing that the index was up about 100 points over the two dates. I rationalized to him that it must be his own poor investments because the broader market was doing fine under Biden. At this point he started to talk about how Biden walks and I quickly excused myself, telling this Fox News parrot I was needed in the kitchen.
These people are fucking morons and they will parrot almost word for word what gets said on that stupid network. Theres no use talking with them unless you just want to have a little fun when they reveal their ignorance.

(10,086 posts)My guess is none. I remember the complaint from one parent about a perfectly innocuous book, no sex at all, because it was a graphic novel and she was too ignorant to know that the word graphic meant visuals, not graphic sex descriptions.

(8,827 posts)There is an STD epidemic in these senior homes. Maybe a little sex Ed early in life could have helped. Does the BuyBull condemn out of wed orgies for seniors? Not that I care, bang away granny, but dont be judging reading material having no moral concept.

(7,675 posts)Allegedly they have highest STD cases in the country and they have non-public key parties.
A key party is where members of the opposite sex place their keys in a bowl and the other gender picks up the keys. The person who picks up the keys from the bowl is who the other person goes home with for a night of activity.
I heard about this again several years ago on a Buffalo radio show.
I don't care what retired people do with their spare time in The Villages or similar retirement communities, but I wonder if these people vote MAGA.
