Georgia man arrested after pretending Taser is his penis
An Athens, Georgia man was arrested and charged after he took to the sidewalk outside a bar with a Taser protruding from his pants like a penis, then proceeded to spark the weapon at passersby. According to the Athens Banner-Herald, 44-year-old Meredith Grayson Watson engaged in the behavior after a drunken altercation with his wife inside the bar.
Staff at the Roadhouse, which is located on North Hull St. in downtown Athens, called police at around 2:30 p.m. Monday to report Watson’s behavior. One bartender told police that Watson’s wife, a regular customer at the Roadhouse, had arrived at the bar earlier.
An altercation began when Watson arrived, obviously intoxicated, and began to argue with his wife. She reportedly accused him of being “high” and warned that he would go to jail. The two then left the bar, still arguing.
Watson returned alone, placing a Taser-type stun gun on the counter, and proceeded to drink.
According to his arrest report, Watson began to discharge the device in the air.
“(The bartender) stated he went outside and put the Taser down to his pants and was acting like it was his penis,” said the report. “When people would walk by he would shock it at them and would come as close as arm’s reach from them and set the Taser off. He scared a few girls so much they crossed the street to get away.”
Watson was taken to jail and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication, then released when he posted $1,000 bond.
