Where we DO need a filibuster rule:

If 60 percent of Democratic voters support a policy, Democratic politicians should actively pursue it.

If 60 percent of Democratic voters oppose a policy, Democratic politicians should actively oppose it.

Both should be regardless of what the Wall Street and inside-the-beltway consensus is since those two constituencies see the rest of us as something between catfood and kitty litter.

Then about 60% of elected Democrats should support it.

We are defenders of minority positions... Not in the business of crushing them.

and they are ably represented by the Republican Party.

If only 60% of Democrats support Democratic policies, then even when we have a majority in Congress, our representatives will give Republicans de facto control.

Even in states and districts of Blue Dog and corporate Democrats, Democratic voters are typically more progressive than their representatives.
