1. As is the case 100% of the time, the problem is the employers, not the workers

Far fewer people would cross the border illegally if there were no employers eager to put them to work.

Fine those employers $100,000 and jail them 10 days for each undocumented worker.

If there were a handy mechanism for revoking citizenship, I would push for that.

But invariably the blame is placed on desperate people willing to work in brutal conditions for a pittance, while the employers reap huge rewards as a result.

Make the employers accountable--really accountable, and the problem will disappear within 15 minutes.

... do not plan on staying. But they cannot afford to go back and forth over the border. Why isn't there a bracero program anymore? Because businesses do not want any sort of government oversight.

Undocumented with fake documents pay into SSI and taxes they will never be able to benefit from. Undocumented have no representation in government, have no real protections under the law until victims of violent crime, pay huge rents for crowded, substandard housing, have bank accounts ..., it's a long list.

People who walk through 100F plus deserts risking dying in the desert of thirst, attacks by criminal groups and racist 'militia' attacks for minimal wage jobs where corrupt employers will actually call INS on them at the end of a contract to avoid final pitiful paycheck are not a 'bad' people.

The fact that they make (and survive) the journey shows that they are tough and driven, but racist shitheads love their fantasy about brown people pouring across the border to cash their Biden checks.
