Where is the Democratic Party without Medicare or Social Security?

What is the Democratic Party without Medicare or Social Security?

Republicans are demanding that Democrats make cuts or changes in these programs before they agree to any tax increases. How many Democrats presently in Congress are willing to go along with such a deal?

More importantly, how would this impact the Democratic Party in the next election? Is it meaningless to the voters?

i think there would be 1) a big betrayal factor and 2) the end of the 'vote for us, at least we're not Bush/romney' motivator.

i think whatever would emerge thereafter, it would never again be mistaken for the party of fdr.

looking at historic realignment in both parties, i think.

Not just a "liberal" Party because there are a lot of people that are not Democrats that depend on Medicare and SS. It would impact both major Parties in a very negative way, in my opinion. It could change the entire political landscape.

If they do go along with the repukes on this it will severely damage the Democratic party. I know a lot of democrats, myself included who would not vote for them and would leave the Democratic party.

and standing up for the change voters have voted for in the last 4 cycles, the voters will keep voting for change. 2014 = 2010.
