David Petraeus ex-mistress, Paula Broadwell, left a female news photographer with a bloodied forehead Monday in a confrontation outside the biographers North Carolina home.
The 40-year-old West Point grad smacked the photographer with the drivers side door of her Nissan Pathfinder SUV.
I had my camera and in all the chaos the door slammed and I got hit in the head with the flash, said Nell Redmond, a freelancer for the Associated press.
Redmond suffered a small cut on her forehead in the incident, witnessed by a Daily News reporter...

(37,364 posts)Perhaps she should not have been so close to the SUV.
I mean I am no fan of Broadwell, but this paparazzi like behavior shouldn't go unchecked

(26,060 posts)was that close that she got hit from the door being opened, she was too close. I have no sympathy for the vultures in the press (none really for Broadwell either but that's an entirely different story).

(836 posts)The article says the photographer actually got hit in the head with her own camera.
Zoom lenses exist for a reason.

(34,845 posts)The article describes her as grim-faced. That doesn't sound like a synonym for 'feisty' to me.

(10,942 posts)But as things are, she has ruined her life for a long time, if not forever and damaged the lives of her husband and children.

(836 posts)-- joking with reporters. I am wondering if "affair" to Petraeus means the one time he tried to kiss her, and she did not fight him off,
or something like that.
Otherwise one would expect a "normal" reaction from Broadwell's husband to be somewhat different than the jovial, joking mood he was in with reporters.

I know "the story" is that the affair started up AFTER Petraeus got out of the military, but I don't believe that. I think when she was running around Afghanistan behind Petraeus when he was still on active duty, dressed VERY inappropriately for the region/culture in skin-tight clothing while he interacted with local tribal leadership, she and he were having their little thang.
It wasn't an eight month affair that ran its course, it was an affair over several YEARS. IMO.

If someone was literally in my face with a camera and I had a car door at my disposal, I'd call it a two-fer...one fer the camera and one fer the forehead.
