(35,724 posts)Traffic was light at my voting spot.
I got on the phone and texted a bunch of people. "VOTE!!"
In addition, wherever I went, I announced to the room to "go vote." This included the doctor's office (I got a round of applause for that) and the library.

(35,724 posts)Next year I may make a whole day of it.
I'm definitely going to tell my teacher's union about it and maybe I can get others to do it, too. One does have to be outgoing to pull it off, though!
It was funny to see the expressions on peoples' faces. Like some people, you could tell, had not even thought of voting but they wanted to. They would think for a second and then give me a big smile. Or a nod.
Others were like "damn straight I'm voting." As soon as I get off this job!

(6,101 posts)how can anyone vote for that POS turtle backed candidate. Andy B has been a great governor for KY and it would be a disaster if that creep beat him.

I can't believe Bashear is tied with all he's done for Kentucky. Good luck all.

(24 posts)Im in Western Kentucky. I wasnt at all disappointed in the turnout when I voted early. There wasnt a line but it was a steady stream of people. Im seeing a lot more Cameron signs than I did a week ago but the Beshear signs outnumber them. Im cautiously optimistic.

(5,068 posts)Obama and Trump were elected. The highest turnout they ever had was when Obama was elected. Mostly people that voted just to make sure he would not win. But they also got a lot more Dem votes that year than normal. Today was not that busy but busier than normal for that time of day.

(25,551 posts)However, those amendment elections always go the Republicans way. There is a good chance Prop 9 will pass. Teachers! I've got my sign in my yard!
I predict the infrastructure stuff will pass. Broadband, Water and Energy. (6,7, and 8) I voted against the energy one. (7)
Prop 3 and 4 will pass, cuz Texas...duh...I voted against them.
For the first time in quite awhile, we actually have stuff worth voting for. Hopefully the conservation fund and university fund will pass. (Although the university fund isn't quite what it seems) I hope the El Paso bonds passes, but I'm worried the Rs will vote against it.
Prop 1 will pass. I voted against it.

(16,511 posts)But I am anxiously awaiting the results from Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, Mississippi, et al.
Among other things, I'm rooting hard for Brandon Presley to kickTate Reeves' smug ass. I know it's a long shot, but it would be so good for Mississippi. Among other things,, Presley is running on expanding Medicaid in the state, which Tate has been refusing to do. (I guess because it might help "those" people get healthier, and who wants that, right? )
As usual on any election night, I will be watching the election coverage on MSNBC and hoping for good news.

(7,135 posts)I'm cautiously optimistic. Lots of USG employees in these parts and they are not amused by GOP threats to shut down the government. We outnumber the knuckle-draggers in the southern part of the state. I'm hoping Youngkin has a very bad night.

(2,552 posts)Voted line "B" Democratic party.
State senate and Assembly, School board and one local referendum.
We live in a purple - ish district, and have been redistricted many times.
Now our town is in with many borderline Republican towns - so every vote does count here.
The polls had good flow.
Heaven forbid the State turns Republican.

(1,324 posts)We never have lines at our polling place, but the turnout was heavier than normal. Voted straight Democratic, even though I didnt know half the candidates. I wore my Make Lying Wrong Again t-shirt, hoping I wouldnt be stopped. The Democrats loved it.

(9,995 posts)in the Shenandoah Valley of VA when I got off duty at the shelter today. It was midafternoon, turnout light but steady. A woman was in front of me with two youngish children. Little girl was thrilled when she got to feed the ballot in. I complimented her on bringing her kids to vote; she said her parents had brought her. Mine didn't bring me because we had school on Election Day, but voting was in the gym of our school and the teachers always made sure we knew something special was happening.
My husband early voted last week.
