Rev. Franklin Graham claimed today that the “majority of Christians” did not vote.

Rev. Franklin Graham claimed today that the “majority of Christians” did not vote.

No, it's not 'Christians'' fault Obama won

The outspoken Rev. Franklin Graham claimed today that the “majority of Christians” did not vote.

“We know that from of the statistics that I’ve heard that the majority of Christians in this country just did not vote for whatever reason,” he told the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “The vast majority of evangelicals did not go to the polls.” He added, “God is in control, and if Christians are upset, they need to be upset at themselves. We need to do a better job of getting our people- the church to vote. Now, I’m not trying to tell you how to vote, you can vote, but vote, my goodness, and vote for candidates that stand for Biblical values.”

But Graham’s assertion -- and implication that had white Christian evangelicals just showed up in bigger numbers, President Obama would have lost -- is off base.

In fact, white evangelicals/born-again Christians made up the same percentage of the electorate as they did in 2008 – 26%. They voted for Mitt Romney, a devout Mormon, by a wider margin than they did for Sen. John McCain four years ago.
And, they made up a larger share of the electorate in 2012 than in 2004, when the Christian Right supposedly fueled George W. Bush’s reelection. They also voted for Romney with the exact same margin as for Bush in 2004, 78%-21%.

I have evangelical Christians in my family. I don't know why I got all the good teaching of Jesus...while they went off the deep end, but that's the way it is.

One characteristic of these people is they have very rigid thinking. Once something gets in the brain it is set in concrete.

The main thing is:

Jesus died for our sins and if you don't believe that you are going to hell no matter how good of a person you are....period.

Among the lesser things that they are equally adamant about:

Mormanism is a cult...period.

So, all the Fox News Obama is evil, abortion is evil, Benghazi, etc...did not penetrate the concrete of the hardcore Christians.

Instead they went all out to support a Mormon who lost.

That makes the Republican party think they are not as important as they were before the election.

a POS. There was an evangelical minister on Rev Al's show last night who had visited the White House (with Rev Al and others) yesterday. He eloquently called Graham out on HIS partisan values that were anything but Christian. Guys like Graham are the reason for the saying: the problem with Christianity is Christians.

...didn't they drag out the 90-year old man to tell the "real xtians" it was OK to vote for Bishop Willard over the "colored fella"? That musta been quite a soul searching moment...trying to absolve not just voting for, but being accepting of a blasphomous Mormon over the "assuredly" moooozlim black guy.

This is par for the course...rushpublicans can't accept blame and here's yet another one passing the buck. Again...no mention on the fact how everyone in the nation other than old white guys rejected everything Willard and the rushpublicans stand for. Keep up the disconnect...finally America appears to have woken up to the hucksters...

The founder's family all raised in wealth and luxury breaks into factions, fights over control of the money, then it all collapses as the sheep who were getting fleeced to fund the empire of greed wander off to find a new religious con man to follow.

If there was no money to be made running the religion scam, most of these people would go away.

there aren't that many Christians in America. And if there aren't that many Christians then they will not have an impact on elections. But that can't be true because it would mean that Romney would had lost by a much bigger margin.

There is a reason why he became a minister. It's easier to lie and not be held accountable by your followers.
