The Rules Committee which could happen as soon as there is a new speaker.

Meanwhile, I hope that Pelosi and Hoyer have told that little peesqueak stand-in to fuck off and that they are not vacating anything.

The rules committee holds a hearing to amend the rules for the 118 congress. If the amendment passes the committee it is brought to the Floor of the House for a vote. It can come as a stand alone or attached to something else. Until a majority of the members vote to change the rule, the 1 person rule stays. Think back to the last Congress. Speaker Pelosi had Chairman Jim McGovern change the rules for screening members by putting them through metal detectors. The house voted on it and the Magnatometers stayed up until the end of the Congress. The new congress got sworn I , new rules were enacted by the new majority and the Mags were gone by about 12:02 on Jan 3.

Washington — One of the key concessions made by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy in his bid to be House speaker was to restore the ability of a single member to call for a no-confidence vote in the speaker, a provision he opposed early this week, but one he agreed to on Wednesday to win over the most conservative members of the GOP conference.

The demand by the Republican holdouts would restore the House rule on vacating the chair to what it was before Rep. Nancy Pelosi was elected speaker in 2019. Under Pelosi, a motion to vacate could be offered on the House floor only if a majority of either party agreed to it. Before that rule change, a single member could move for a vote to unseat the speaker.

When I read that I thought is said it had to come up through the parties prior. That was the Pelosi rules change. My mistake. Thanks for catching.
