How you react to the death of the Twinkie reveals your political affiliation

Democrat: Greedy corporatist bastards fleecing the company and blaming it on the workers.

Conservatives: Damned greedy union employees got too damned big for their britches they did.

Teabaggers: It's Obama's fault!

I'm serious about this...been seeing it all day~!

I noticed the same thing. Even a few duers were talking as if they were mini-Romneys on this, and when the multi million dollar executive salaries were brought up they would ignore it, like they didn't want to talk about that. Maybe they think the execs deserve this money, who knows?

12. This was a joint decision. Both sides decided it wasn't worth it to agree to the other party.

The union workers thought the job wasn't worth doing at less pay/benefits and the owners decided it wasn't worth it to keep losing money.

So be it.

14. question is, what's the truth?

as 1/3 of the workforce had already been laid off & those remaining given up $110 million in concessions in the bankruptcy, and the company HAD MORE DEBT COMING OUT OF THE BANKRUPTCY THAN ENTERING IT (a highly unusual outcome), and the company had already filed for chap 11 again in january -- and now the company was asking for what amounted to 30% cuts in what was left of workers' pay + benefits, having already suspended payments to their pension fund -- while at the same time doubling, tripling and quadrupling their own salaries --

i'll go out on a limb and say the truth is, management, in league with hedge funds, ran the company into the ground for personal profit.

call me crazy and biased.

16. Yeah, I think you're right...So, is this what harvesting a company looks like?

Apparently a managed bankruptcy is in play here. The means in the end for the management, and simply THE END for the workers, who had given up a lot to save their jobs. Sad as hell.
