(5,524 posts)I hate the youth-worship mentality in America. This same mentality often excuses misogyny, and, its almost never directed toward men.
People over 25 look fine, if not better. The obsession with youth in America is almost pedophilic and is gross.

(115,836 posts)Nobody looks that great naked at any age; humans look like shaved monkeys. We'd have been better off keeping the fur and could have saved a lot of money on clothes. My real point is that we shouldn't care too much what we look like naked because we don't walk around that way. Nobody sees me naked but my cat.

(11,491 posts)25 during covid and have lost and regained some of it many times this past year.
It's not the weight that bothers me so much as I am small and it all goes in my waist, a older lady in my Tai Chi senior class asked me when I was due last week. I laughed but it still bugs me. Yes she shouldn't have said anything but she learned a lesson and is a very nice lady.
Also my blood pressure is up when weight is up.
I went on a sugar fast this month and lasted until yesterday when I put some chocolate on my strawberries. We are traveling and watching everyone have desserts all week has been tough.
My goal is to stay sugar free for 90 days then try to have just a little. Its like a drug to me so hard to do that. I was getting horrible this summer though was having 2-3 dessert type things per day.

(20,214 posts)I look bad naked now. I'll just look a different kind of bad after I lose the weight.
A panniculectomy is sometimes covered by insurance. It's where the surgeon removes the excess skin hanging from the lower abdomen. Unlike a tummy tuck. it only deals with the skin and not the underlying muscles.

(1,609 posts)I lost nearly 200 pounds.. I'm a widow I'm 54... I'm lonely. I wanted to date again but I can't looking like this.

(115,836 posts)But there are exercises and other things you can do to tighten up the loose bits somewhat. I lost a lot of weight during the pandemic and now I'm wrinkly all over - my birthday suit looks like I forgot to take it out of the dryer - but some of that has to do with age and can't be helped. But I'm too old to date any more so it doesn't matter to me.

(30,676 posts)Don't worry about how you look naked. Presumably you are the only person who will get to see that.
And you are beautiful!

(27,453 posts)And check with your insurance to see if skin tightening procedures are covered. Its at least worth asking about.
And congratulations! Thats an accomplishment to be proud of.

(4,616 posts)and gained and lost and gained and lost again. And I look like me naked! As well as dressed. This is me, I'm supposed to look like this. How sad it would be if we were all alike! That's the beauty, we are not, we are all uniquely us.

(17,457 posts)Seriously, what an accomplishment. Congratulations!
Try not to worry about the skin. I know it's easier said then done.
You want to date? Then get out there and date! Men are not as superficial as they sometimes seem.
Think. Again.
(8,392 posts)...you're beautiful.
And strong, and determined, and in charge of yourself, and humble, and powerful, and a shining inspiration, and positive, and, I hope, proud of achieving an extremely difficult goal that you set for yourself.
Thank you for being one of the truly valuable people of today's world!

(19,567 posts)Your resolve, hard work and determination deserves to be applauded!!
I'm sorry doing this has left you with all that extra skin.
I don't know if you have insurance or not, but sometimes it will do limited removal due to the potential health implications. Beyond that, if I were you, I might consider a gofundme to see if it could help out.
Skin removal of your level should be a healthcare matter not considered cosmetic as it is. There's not only the health issues dealing with keeping the extra skin healthy daily, but also the impact on a persons mental health.
Congratulations again on kicking some serious butt and getting all that weight off! A lot of people are in awe of you for being able to do something so difficult for so very many of us!

(29,706 posts)Good luck with whatever skin tightening procedures you may get. And again, congrats on weight loss. Its hard to love what you look like now, but just love what youve accomplished and accept yourself, someone will too. Good job, and good luck.

(10,839 posts)One hundred ninety-two pounds is an entire person you've shaken off. Good for your overall, long-term health and really hard to do.
But I completely empathize with the saggy skin problem. Aging does it for most people (gravity will have its way!) and certainly a large weight loss will do the same thing. They do have skin reduction surgery but frankly it looks most unpleasant (I'm very knife adverse myself). Then again if you start having skin irritation and/or infections, it might be something to consider and/or ask a physician about alternatives to the surgical approach.
But foremost, you deserve a high-five for accomplishing something many people fail at. Way to go, BlueLucy!

(7,386 posts)I lost 150 pounds, and likewise look kinda grotesque in my birthday suit. I've been tempted to get all the excess skin removed, but so, I'm just living with it.
