KRUGMAN: Conservative Patriarchy: Bosses OVER Workers-Men OVER Women-Whites OVER Those People

conservative patriarchy:

..........conservatism isn’t really about the things it claims to be about. It isn’t really about free markets and moral values; it’s about authority — the authority of bosses over workers, of men over women, of whites over Those People.

widespread and deeply embedded in our culture, most don't even recognize it. Like a fish trying to describe the water in which it lives.

Patriarchy is basically the root problem of our entire culture. It denies freedom to everyone except rich white males who do NOT understand arithmetic...like RobMe.

You see, Mi$$, you offered your RICH white male folk gifts to elect you. But you gotta look out and see that everyone else outnumbers those rich white male folk. Get it? On Election day, it's one person and one vote. Do you understand now?

It's the one day that a poor, old woman is equal to your white male billionaire. One person, One vote. Now do you understand, you pathetic whining piece of pus. Now go away and count your f*cking money.

Made right here on DU many, many times. They are even similar to comments I have made as well. But it never hurts to hear them from someone with a much wider audience than those of of posting on DU.

I was reading through the comments to Krugman's blog and found the following to be an insightful footnote:

Conservatism, as practiced by most modern day Republicans, exemplifies a hierarchial vision of human interaction. That way of relating would include not only "bosses over workers, men over women, whites over Those People," but powerful nations over less powerful nations through subjugation, instead of through partnership.

I believe President Obama, as leader of our nation and as a role model for leaders throughout the world, has an egalitarian vision of interaction among human beings and among nations. I believe most Democrats, also, see with egalitarian eyes.

A hierarchial vision is of the past. An egalitarian vision, espoused by our visionary Founding Fathers, is the vision of the future.

But I am still fond of John Kenneth Galbraith's:

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy;
that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

The cat is out of the proverbial bag, so will be interesting to see if the Democrats can or will brand it the Ayn Rand Budget, because that surely is what it is.

I'd like to see the Republicans embarassed and scrambling for excuses for a change. This is geometrically more damaging that a coup in Benghazi or college transcripts or even a birth certificate. Not a one of these issues involves hurting citizens, putting them out on the street, etc.

Here's a couple of RW excuses to justify patriarchal power:

- the so-called "natural order of things" where the guys in power pick winners and losers.

- Deference to authority (their term for raw, brutal power)

It's all a crock of shit designed to keep themselves on top at all costs, regardless of who they step on in the process.

to oppress or deny the rights and opportunities of others without the interference of government. But, of course, most of them don't see this, because they're willfully blind to the ways non-governmental institutions can deprive us of our freedoms and opportunities.
