There is no reason that Republicans will behave differently.

A few reasons....

1. They lost four years ago. The man in the White House does not look like the vast majority of them.

2. They live in a small bubble of brainwashing and ideology aided and abetted by both right wing hate radio and Faux "news", as well as within many of the church communities in which they belong.

3. They are no less afraid (as in scared shitless...of what, who knows) and misinformed than they were four years ago.

4. If anything, they are now four years closer to relative extinction - the demographics will continue to work against them. And we all know what the behavior of dying or caged animals is like....desperate clinging to the only behavior that is known.

5. They lost a little over a week ago and the man in the White House still does not look like the vast majority of them.

6. We have a MSM that still stacks the Sunday shows with right wing views - and still tends to mis- or under-represent the liberal/Dem/left wing view.

So, am I hopeful? If Obama can stay with the aggressive, fight tooth-and-nail approach, we have ideas and the people on our side - we have a strong hand and need to be confident to play it.

But am I surprised - and do I expect any sort of a positive evolution of approach coming from the right? Will they tend to be assholes every time they open their mouths?

Absolutely.
