(14,157 posts)to effect change. Once people find their favorite websites down, they will look for places to discuss it. Do yo want them going to some righty site or would you prefer they go to DU3? (as long as they are not disruptors)

(12,041 posts)I don't think the site should go completely dark, I think there should be one and only one thing visible to those who visit: The text of the First Amendment.

(5,604 posts)On edit....... Do it. Not to send a message to the rethuglicans, because we know they are scum...... but as a Reminder to the Democratic party that we are watching, and we are legion, and "we won't get fooled again".

(19,495 posts)No site should go dark tomorrow. It's a foolish and pointless exercise.

(11,936 posts)Websites like Google and Yahoo and Wikipedia, those are websites that people from all walks of life, all countries, all political parties, etc, use. What they are doing is going to effectively raise awareness. DUers don't need their awareness raised. I'd say most of us know the deal with these wild bills and most of us are against them. Unlike those sites mentioned, we wouldn't accomplish anything significant for the cause and I don't want to have to turn on network news in order to find out whats going on.

(11,936 posts)The point of the blackout is to get people who don't live this stuff everyday to get involved in the activism. DU doesn't need a blackout in order to get its members to do that.

(25,183 posts)DU should not participate. We already are 99.9% against this crappy law. We don't need to sulk in order to prove it.
