States with more Cracker Barrels than Whole Foods voted Romney.

States with more Apple Stores than Tractor Supply voted Obama. One of the panelists didn't even know that Tractor Supply was a real store!

Just heard on the tv news...LOL!

What makes Whole Foods so great. In Columbus, Ohio, a supervisor of at Whole Foods was charged and convicted of slipping female co-workers LSD so he could take advantage of them sexually. Even though he was convicted, Whole Foods allowed him to keep his job.

... but I can honestly say I thought "tractor supply" was a generic term (like "hardware&quot rather than a brand name.

we ate a Cracker Barrel. It was really good. I don't shop at Whole Paycheck or own any Apple crap.

I'm a bit irritated at the fucking snobbery. The Tractor Store is probably similiar to Fleet Farm. These stores have items that farmers and blue collar workers need (tools, work clothes, work boots, winter gear, etc.). All the blue collar people I know voted for Obama. Not everyone owns some iCrap, not everyone makes their living sitting inside an office eating a $15 salad for lunch. But, I guess until there's an app explaining this, narrow minded thinking will prevail.

Farming stuff and feed, including high-quality dog and cat stuff, and Carhartt, wood stoves, lawn supply stuff, etc. Baby chicks in the Spring. They have them in suburbs, too.

I buy my Taste of the Wild dog and cat food there, as well as the Carhatt jacket I wear in the Winter and my Wellies.

VERY snobby, I agree.

Disclosure: I own an iPod and shop at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

going to the Fleet Farm. Carharrt winter jackets are the best. They had all sorts of interesting animal supplies there. I thought it was fun.

Sorry about the Apple & Whole Foods comment. I was just trying to make a point.

I live in horse farm country in Eastern Connecticut. Tractor Supply just opened here a year ago. I love the place. I don't have horses or a farm, but damn...that store is fun! I want everything! From Carhart clothes to generators and wood splitters...it's a country-dweller's dream. Like Toys R Us for us hicks. Ironically, my town is 99.9% white, college educated and well-off. We don't even have a police department. But the new Tractor Supply is very popular.

Fascinating place. It was there that I learned how bull de-nutters worked (I bought one to keep on the coffee table -- makes for some really interesting conversations with guests!). Great place to browse around (especially if you've ever read any of the "Firefox" books). The nearest Tractor Supply store is a little bit farther than my car will reliably make it, but I love nosing around in there, too.

Ditto with the nearest Cracker Barrel, too far away to drive comfortably, but I like it. At least there's the local choke-n-puke truck stop a few miles down the road where I can periodically load up on cheesy eggs and grits before I come back home to plan that evening's country-fried chateaubriand and Iced Cabernet Sauvignon Punch.

I stand comfortably with a foot in both worlds.

CB's sausage biscuits are a divine thing of beauty. Best I've ever had, either chain or independent.

From my experience with Whole Foods (and I'd suspect Trader Joe's as well), it just seems to me to be overpriced groceries of dubious "organic" quality.

And is very different from Whole Foods. I buy my bulk stuff at WF and everything else at TJ's, including $4 organic shampoo that lasts me almost two months.

I've seen several comments like this...I don't get it. TJ's is nothing like Whole Foods. Very good prices.

It's also where I get all my pets' food -- high-quality brands. If the panelist didn't know it's a real store, then they showed their ignorance, didn't they?

I also shop at Whole Foods.

Cracker Barrels tend to be on interstates, so blame tourists.

This kind of OP really annoys the hell out of me. Very elitist, too.

Pick thy poison, I guess.

"Cracker Barrel" - the only restaurant whose name most accurately describes the people that eat and manage there.
