Since Puerto Rico voted that they want to be a state, and Texas wants to leave the union, all we need to do is swap 'em out.

(28,272 posts)1. 3.2 million Texans fail to see the humor.
That's how many of us cast votes for Obama this time around. As opposed to a few thousand malcontents who have signed that stupid secession petition, which even Rick Perry has disavowed. Even Ted Cruz, moron that he is, is making sweaty public comments about Texas going blue. But don't let any of this deprive you of a good laugh.....

(53,061 posts)2. there are no red states
Just blue states and states that will be blue in the future.
Texas should become blue by 2016-2018.
And when Texas does go blue the Republican Party will become an interesting anachronism in history. At that stage it will split into the Republican-establishment party (Republican) and the Republican-fuck you party (Libertarian).
Until that time we will have to work on Texas county by county.

(42,610 posts)4. And Texas has no state income tax.
Oh, how quickly that would change if a fantasy secession ever happened. I'd give it a mattter of weeks before secessionist supporters started whining about how they were better off as part of the union.
