Uh oh. I dont mean to alarm anyone, but global warming could be responsible for more than just rising sea levels and extreme weather events.
Its also slowly killing coffee.
A study by conservation group Kew suggests that global warming could lead to the extinction of wild Arabica coffee by 2080. The study uses computer modeling to hypothesize how coffee production will be impacted by climate change, running through possible scenarios and to determine the prevalence of bioclimatically suitable regions for coffee growth.

People without their morning coffee are not amused.

(903 posts)i'll be 52 in february, and in my entire life, i've had a total of less than 1/2cup of coffee in all that time.
i REALLY can't stand the stuff...or it's putrid smell.

(21,786 posts)if predictions about sea level rise and the effects of changing weather patterns on food production are anywhere near accurate, we're facing mass starvation and a dieoff of a significant percentage of the human species; coffee is pretty low on the list of things to be worried about.
