It is done. A red district knocked out a financially challenged Republican speaker of the house

and voted for a Democrat.

Dorworth loses to Clelland in final recount

Chris Dorworth has lost his seat in the Florida House of Representatives.

A hand recount completed Monday afternoon confirmed that the Lake Mary Republican, who was supposed to take over as speaker of the House in just two years, has been defeated by Democratic challenger Mike Clelland.

The final tally showed Clelland defeating Dorworth by 146 votes out of nearly 74,000 cast — 50.1 percent to 49.9 percent.

Clelland, a 48-year-old lawyer and former city of Longwood firefighter who sat through much of the marathon recount process, pronounced himself "relieved and happy, obviously.

I lived there when I first moved to FL.

Now I'm down in Winter Garden (land of unending Romney/Ryan and Webster signs)

You registered so many and turned out the vote. Not taking anything away from Clelland cause he did it the old fashioned way by door knocking and small donors.
But it has to be sweet to be down ticket from Barack Obama.
I talked my daughters boyfriend who was voting R to vote for Clelland.
If you lived around here and saw the million Romney signs you would know how
hard it is to win as a Dem in Seminole County.

Still hampered by gerrymandered districts and a dysfunctional state party. Several victories this year was sweet! Pukes no longer hold supermajority in state house or senate. Grayson wins. Obama wins. West loses. Nelson wins... ok, I had to hold my nose on that one, but as a silver lining it may have ended Mack's career.
And even the smallest victories were sweet... Pinellas Co kicked two teabaggers off the County Commission, and replaced them with Democrats! yay!
