I have read that we are vastly superior in learning tricks, with academics developing theories and doing actual experiments to find good prospecting, persuasion and turnout methods. And that academics - who are even smarter than Nate Silver - won't work for Republicans. We don't just "think" a tactic will work. We randomly assign voters to get or not get a tactic and actually measure whether it worked - did they register? Did they vote? What was the PRECISE yield? Was it worth the cost? Using official records to find out. Science seems better than armchair philosophy - and only we got the scientists.
