We have the power now.

The way to win the elections 2014 is for our Democratic leaders to start listening to US, and ignore FOX, limbaugh and the other bullies.

enabling repukes to gerrymander Congressional districts in such a way that we couldn't take back the house if we have EVERYBODY voting--all with the blessing of the Supreme Court's Fascist Five.

Just see my sig line to prevent a repeat of 2010.

5. to answer your question why not in 2012
Sat Nov 10, 2012, 04:24 PM

the republicans came into power in 2010 a census year... and gerrymanderd the congressional districts.. thus making the "safe districts"... as time goes on the demographics of districts change, and some may be competative in 14... but don't hold your breath, on getting a majority.. the good news is that every cycle until 2010 we will have the benifit of creeping demographic change, and it will add up, and will be hard to stop..

of course events do happen, economic recovery, national disasters, even scandals.. so nothings certain..

8. If the Democratic party can do a good job framing the House as obstructionists
Sat Nov 10, 2012, 04:28 PM

we may have a better chance in 2014 than we think. One of the pundits was explaining on election night that voters seem to like giving their elected officials a chance (for the length of their term). Another reason could be not having competitive Dems to run against these Republics. IMO, we need to start looking at vulnerable places in the house and start getting candidates in those areas and letting the people get to know them. Really, we need to start campaigning now (while people are sick of campaigning).

7. We have to work just as hard after the election as before keeping pressure on Pres Obama

and agitating for progressive change.

Robert Reich says Obama is a Rockefeller Republican(ouch!) and needs the pressure kept on. A look at the department Secretaries makes it hard to contradict Mr Reich.

9. Just as our great ancestors and true patriotic Americans did under FDR

They MADE him do what he did.

And now we need to force our politicians to listen to US, to protect those programs our ancestors fought so hard for.

11. I believe FDR said something like, "Now it's up to you to make me do the right thing" or to put it

another way, FDR needed a massive show of support for progressive laws and he was willing and happy to sign them and then enforce them. But, he needed a show of public pressure.

10. Our work right now is to back President Obama on the so-called "fiscal cliff"
Sat Nov 10, 2012, 04:34 PM
Nov 2012

and ensure that the Bush tax cuts for millionaires expire. Even if it means allowing them all to expire and the drastic budget cuts to hit in January.

The GOP will be in a world of hurt if we help the President force their hand, and they will be forced to compromise.

And our work right now is to ensure that the *only* acceptable "change" to Social Security when the so-called "grand bargain" is struck is to lift the cap that allows the well-off to only pay into the system up to a relatively small portion of their wages.
