Chris Hayes' excellent point on voter registration

"When I turned 18, the Selective Service card showed up in my mailbox. Why can't the government do that for voter registations?"

Seriously! They know where you are. Why isn't this automatic?

The breakdown of the electorate was an interesting conversation--things you don't usually hear in mainstream media. And the voting disenfranchisement segments are enlightening. I had no idea there were such profound regulations past after 2004---that were insufficiently implemented by Congress.

Amazing the government, with all of their monitoring of everything we do, can't figure out voter registration.

In fairness, another guest had a good point; it always gets hung up as a "State's Rights" issue. Federal elections are one thing, but the Federal Government shouldn't be telling states how to register their voters. He said "We're the United STATESof America, not the United States of America." Interesting.
