Yesterday, I talked to a man who happened be be at McCormick Place in Chicago, where Obama was going to speak.. He knew someone who was on the tech staff of either McCormick Place or one of the stations covering the event. He had no way of getting in since he did not have a "pass"..As he stood around this huge building, someone came up to him with a handfull of passes. She said, "Would you like to go in and see the President speak?"..so he accepted from an unkown person went through the detectors and was in the hall when Obama gave his speech (along with 10,000 others)..The lady continued to give away "passes"..I guess they wanted the hall to be full. He surely wasn't close, but he was in.. But it wasn't an exclusive event by a long shot.
Romney had an exclusive event for only the top contributors. He was sure he was going to win, so he invited the most important people who gave the most money. That is what is important to him. Ties and tuxcedos etc...we all know about it..
So there it is...who these people really are....
(by the way...in 2008, Obama gave an open air speech in Grant Park..all who wanted to be there could be there...sure you couldn't see much from far away...but...open to all who could make it...I wish I had been there, but I know people who were, even though they couldn't see, it was truly a heartwarming event in 2008)

(23,555 posts)I got a pass to get in a little closer. Anyone could be there. But, thousands of people with passes got to be a bit closer in the front. These passes went to volunteers and I was luck enough to be one of the volunteers who got a pair of passes!

(9,865 posts)The Republicans were all white, all shiny and all dressed up and coifed. The Democratic crowd was very diverse in color, and age and style and dressed like ordinary people. It was very striking.
A Romney Presidency would have been oligarchy on speed.
BTW--Thom Hartman today pointed out how when Romney accepted the nomination at his convention, the stage was rigged out to be shaped like the Mormon beehive---if you know what that is. (I don't). It's some esoteric symbolic thing.

(3,596 posts)that the Romney campaign cancelled all the credit cards issued to their staffers immediately after the concession speech? So as staff were trying to take taxis back to hotels or checkout of their hotels the next morning, re-arrange flight plans, etc. they suddenly found that their credit cards were cut off.
So this gives us a good idea of how ruthless this asshole is. He cuts off his own staffers once he loses. Again a scorched earth mentality or, quite honestly, one that is born out of privilege and entitlement. He felt he was entitled to be President. And when he lost he just couldn't cope.

The visuals were getting worse and worse.
The talk of "Romney in a bunker" was widening and his own supporters were getting impatient and were not used to waiting. I bet some even thought Romney had taken shelter from THEM and was afraid to face them with his failure.
