“Fucking A, man,” exclaimed Jacob Chansley, the man some called the QAnon Shaman. He surveyed the scene as he ambled to the raised platform at the head of the chamber where former Vice President Mike Pence had stood a few minutes before. “You guys are fucking patriots.”

Then, things got weird.

Joshua Black, wearing a red Make America Great Again hat, camouflage jacket and pants, boots, and vest, sat on the floor, his back against the marble-lined, ornate desk where the parliamentarian and clerks monitored official proceedings. Dried blood from a cheek wound blended in with his reddish beard. The Leeds, Ala., man later told FBI investigators he broke into the Capitol to “praise the name of Jesus on the Senate floor,” that he “felt like the spirit of God wanted me to go in the Senate room.”

I wholly recommend "Foucault's Pendulum" - - Umberto Eco.

It remains as a seminary work that propelled me in the direction of reason.

It encouraged me to question the veracity of all, and to do so with zest and great abandon.

As a result, I came to understand that "doubt" instead of being my enemy, was indeed, my friend.

I'd been beat to hell, then lifted out, odd to say, both times by doubt.

When nothing else, not pain, not love... doubt lifted me!

When I "lived by faith", by definition, I rejected doubt. When I rejected doubt, I rejected reason, and embraced delusion.
When I embraced doubt, by definition, I embraced reason, thus rejecting delusion.

Mythology reveals and informs.
Religion obscures and deceives.

Q-Anon is delusion. Reason is their only antidote.

May reason rule.

21. I am now working my way thru this. Right off the bat his reference to Mel Brooks made me laugh...

Just a little — these really are awful times.

The thing is, Mel Brooks actually could make a musical comedy out of it all — after all, he did “Springtime for Hitler” as a play-within-a-play. I’ve been just hoping to live long enough to see a good documentary film about our own nightmare era — but maybe I’ll get really lucky and get to see a savage comedy riff on it.

QAnon’s conspiracy theory is a rebranded version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

QAnon purveys the fantasy that a secret Satan-worshiping cabal is taking over the world. Its members kidnap white children, keep them in secret prisons run by pedophiles, slaughter, and eat them to gain power from the essence in their blood. The cabal held the American Presidency under the Clintons and Obama, nearly took power again in 2016, and lurks in a “Deep State” financed by Jews, including George Soros, and in Jews who control the media. They want to disarm citizens and defund the police. They promote abortion, transgender rights, and homosexuality. They want open borders so brown illegal aliens can invade America and mongrelize the white race.

QAnon true believers think Donald Trump will rescue America from this Satanic cabal. At the time of “The Storm,” supporters of the cabal will be rounded up and executed.

The QAnon conspiracy theory has now spread to neo-Nazis in Germany, where over 200,000 German QAnon accounts infest the internet. A faction known as “Reichsbürger,” or citizens of the Reich, orchestrated a brief storming of Parliament on Aug. 29.

Many people are perplexed at how any rational person could fall for such an irrational conspiracy theory. But modern social science shows that people in groups don’t always think rationally. They respond to fear and terror. They blame their misfortunes on scapegoats. They support narcissistic demagogues they hope will rescue them.
