I'm in Utah and people here loved Romney for "saving" the Olympics. We all know that he did it with more money than the Feds have ever given to a games but he was loved and respected, even by some nonMormon Democrats, for how the Olympics came off.
But I didn't hear him talk about it. I suspect it was because Obama defined him when the race was early and he was busy fighting off attacks about his time at Bain and as governor but I expected him to pivot to a "I saved the Olympics, I can save the country" mode. I never heard it if he did.
Course, I'm not in a swing state, in fact my state was probably the reddest this year, so we didn't see any national ads. Did he talk it up in ads in swing states?

Plus, no one in Utah wants to revisit all the corruption and waste.

(18,672 posts)He did not leave Salt Lake City a popular man, and he was actually connected to the bribery scandal. But he took all the records with him, and the stories I'm seeing now about his Olympic stint do not match what I remember. He pretty much pulled the same crap I've been reading about today. After the Olympics, he pull up everything and left a lot of people flipping HUGE bills. He is essentially a high-end grifter.
