Driving home from work today through the reddest part of a thoroughly red state (rural SW Idaho), I drove past a house that always respectfully flies a large predominantly displayed flag.
Today it was at half mast.
I turned on the news, worried, to learn if there had been a disaster, or if a notable American had died.
Apparently no. I breathed relief on that score.
I think he was flying his flag in mourning because the American people, using the tools of Democracy handed down by the forefathers, had not elected his guy.
How in the world are we to meet this kind of disdain from our conservative neighbors?

(10,749 posts)You can google flag half mast, and in a few clicks you'll probably find out why. In NH a few weeks ago the flag was at half mast. It turns out it was for a soldier who had been killed. States have the right to order flags at half mast.
Or it could be the guy flying the flag half mast was a dick.
