Money has worked in the past in getting us elected officials we didn't want.

About $3 billion was spent by each side. Why do you think money was not effective? Money allowed Obama to run ads very early on Romney and clearly people were swayed by that.

money made a huge difference in Dictrict 2 in Arizona where McSally's campaign ads helped lie her to victory and Flake beat back Carmona with some of the biggest lies of all and a constant barrage of ads calling the conservative Carmona, certainly more conservative than Obama, a "liberal". McCain and Kyl also got into the lying game by saying they didn't say what they said in an ad for Carmona when they supported him as Bush's Surgeon General. And then there was the woman lying about what Barber said about McSally, etc, etc.

The ads mattered. But, they didn't buy the election for Romney.

But I have to disagree with you on the McCain/Kyl ad. I thought that was a disaster. The ad tried to imply McCain and Kyl were endorsing him for Senate. Both McCain's words and Kyl's were cut off when they said Surgeon General. Everyone knew McCain and Kyl backed Flake and I think the ad backfired big time.

but that wasn't my point. Those were the words of Kyl and McCain in the Carmona ad, and they acted like they never supported him or voted for him as Surgeon General. It was just another lying ad by the Flake campaign. Call it a half lie if you wish.

Is that the repubs with koch, adelson cash over all outspent President Obama's team and still got trounced. I just wonder if this will make people think twice about spending unlimited funds like that?
