I'm so proud of the young women who turned out to vote. There were times they didn't appear to be all that interested in women's rights but they came through. This "mature" woman is happy!

On edit: I voted for MY daughter too, Will- she will be 26 this year, is bipolar and thank
the universe for the Affordable Care Act as medications and doctors are very expensive
and I don't want her living in a country that takes her reproductive rights and access to
Planned Parenthood away...BTW, don't blink, your daughter will be a young adult before you know it!
Let the laundry and dishes sit, take her to the park instead, while you can.

(1,151 posts)I was disappointed that so many women did vote for mittens. I mean it was like a 60 / 40 split. That means fully 40 % of American women must actually believe they are inferior to men. That, or they obviously are since they have no self respect. That is discouraging. That shows me there is much work to do. These women must be educated, they must be helped. That is like , 30 million women and thats just the voting women, Think of how many women suffer the fate of being the inferior partner or just suffer the complex alone? Its a freaking epidemic.
This whole issue is about equal rights. Its not about gay marriage, its not about abortion.its not about equal pay either. we must stop allowing the rethugs to frame this debate. IT IS ABOUT EQUAL RIGHTS.
basic human rights. The rights guaranteed in the law of this land

(5,943 posts)will feel for your daughter. And remember, it's only a lease. You'll have her for maybe 18 years, which in a lifetime is just a blink of an eye. Cherish each moment & record each moment because they will be gone before you know it. Never forget that she is and will always be her own person - you've just been given the exceptional opportunity to guide her on her way to adulthood. All my best~Cindy

I'm one.
You'll view every male over the age of 10 who ventures near her with suspicion.
But it's not all bad.
She married her high school sweetheart.
But not until they were in their mid 20s.
I liked him from the get go.
And now we have a grandson (10) and a granddaughter (5).
Life is good.

(20,998 posts)Hopefully your daughter will grow up in a world where she has Equal Rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution, where your daughter is guaranteed to make equal pay for equal work and guaranteed to have COMPLETE control of her body, her heath and her reproductive freedom.
Here's to a United States of America where there are NO second class citizens. Where all citizens are truly judged by the actions and the content of the characters, and NOT by their color, creed, sexual identity or gender.
Here's to a United States of America where PEOPLE are persons, and corporate entities are legal entities specified on paper with none of the rights accorded to living, breathing people.
Here's to a United States of America where EVERY little girl and boy can grow up thinking they can one day be the President of the United States of America.
