(1,426 posts)Krugman is an economist and could possibly be the chair of the Federal Reserve ... but the treasury sec. has to be some one who know the nuts and bolts of the system.
Think of it this way - you need someone to maintain your car. The person you need is a mechanic - not an engineer who can design engines.
