Marry National Election Standards to elimination of the Electoral College

I think there can be some real common ground there. The EC is anachronistic in the extreme.

The fact is, our entire system of voting and electing is anachronistic.

The problem with a popular vote election is the incredible disparity with respect to the process involved in any one citizen's actually getting to cast a vote in any one state. We need to establish identity standards, a fair process to register, a fair process to show up at the polls, a fair distribution of polling places so there is NO difference in polling place and voting machine access anywhere in the country, a fair and consistent method by which votes are counted.

I would actually like to see all elections for national impact offices (President, Senators, Representatives) run by the federal government (much as we do in the countries we occupy).

Do NOT separate EC reform from voter reform unless it is to do voter reform. The EC is not the bigger issue. Use it as a bargaining chip.

FAIR elections is what matters. Elimination of the EC may be a way to find enough common ground to move forward.

once global-warming induced famine kills off over half the population after being ignored while people threw their energy behind shit that didn't really matter as much as survival.
