Chances of another cataclysmic governing crisis?

They took out the magnetometers that prevent guns from getting on house floor.
They mandated voting in person.
There is no Speaker of the house.

What happens next?

they still mocked her (repugs) and now that repugs are in control (in theory, but clearly not), republicans in their weakened state will be less likely to damage the Country, damage the rule of law, pass stupid stuff, and if anything, showing the rest of us on how NOT to govern. This republican mess clearly shows what listening to djt does.

What a mess. I am somewhat surprised that Kevin M. hasn't made some kind of deal w/ the democratic leadership to gain the speakership (like 'Hey, I will let you rule the House for a year, and then you'll rule the House for the other year).

The democratic powers that be, do have Jeffries running for house speakership. It would bode well I think very much so for the future of the Country if the republicans put Country first and not Party and a few of them join the rest of the democratic members in voting Jeffries in, but I seriously doubt that they will.

if (or when) human pretzel Kevin McCarthy or any Republican traitor is voted Speaker, is there's really a glint of a chance he or she will actually govern, do what's best for the country?...are two years of revenge and retaliation/Hunter's dick pics/never-ending investigations/white washing January 6/Jim Jordan's toxic screeching/Marjorie Taylor Greene's dildo and butt plugs fascination/Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert's swanning caustic buffoonery considered governing?...so what if Kevin McCarthy's public flaying/MAGA playground thuggery goes on a few days longer because real governing was never the point...

The question touches on the darker question as to whether the removal of the metal detectors is an intentional action that is part of some dark plot, the way that Jan 6 was indeed a dark plot.

The impact of any violent actions on the floor of the house would be dramatically and horribly worsened by the chaos in leadership. Putting the pieces of a fascist or Russian-instigated plot together, one can imagine such a situation as an ignition of disaster — especially after fake media gets a hold of it.

But DUers are apparently very optimistic people.

The worst enemies, in the minds of MAGAloons, are the betrayers of "the Cause".
In their minds, the Dems are just a nuisance. The Traitorous RINOs, though...
Authoritarians and their enabling mob always go after the ones in their own ranks once they've thought they've won. VP Pence was in more danger on Jan 6 than others in the capital, because the danger to him came not only from the crowd, but from the insurrectionist co-conspirators in the government who were there to force him to act out their plan. If he didn't do what they wanted him to do, him being dead and an excuse for Martial Law was a probable plan B.

For the same reason, they would be seen as a traitor.
But inspiring domestic political terror would be a ‘feature not a bug’ for Putin.
The insurrectionists want chaos.

If it's Mc Carthy, will he last in his post longer than Truss did in hers?
