Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhat will the Republicans take away from last night?
Astronomical amounts of money spent, personal fortunes pushed into ads, and 24/7 reminders about "SOCIALISTS!", "MARXISTS!", "CLASS WARFARE!", "DEATH PANELS!", and a stated obsession to get one man out of a job.
What did that get them?
No landslide in the House and the Tea Party gets taken down a notch.
The Senate is still Democratic
And Obama is still in the Oval Office
So, what do you think is the lesson Republicans took away from this?
"Hey guys, maybe we should be more inclusive. Maybe gays and atheists aren't evil forces. Maybe Planned Parenthood isn't the bane of all life on Earth. Maybe when a scientist says something that goes against our ideology, he might actually be onto something. Maybe."
OR...
"We didn't win because we aren't crazy enough. Declare war on the Soviet Union! Why are we stopping with gays? Let's go after redheads too! Give the unborn the vote! YEAH!!!!1111!"

(22,336 posts)And the election results (popular vote anyway) are "within the margin of error" so really Romney could have just as easily won. All they need to do is "educate us" more and they'll win next time.
I think that's where they are. Which is good because if they don't heal themselves, we'll continue to win.
