How do we beat the redistricting? It's set up to put the same type Reeps in place who set up the gerrymandering in the first place? To change it, we have to elect more Dems. It feels like a catch-22.

That's why we lost the national House too... gerrymandered red states. It hurts.

Obama's share of the vote went down from 2008 and gerrymandering did not have anything to do with that. I don't live in TX so I don't know why it occurred.

Republican margins since 1976 (the last time Texas went blue):

1980 14%
1984 27%
1988 13%
1992 3%
1996 5%
2000 21%
2004 22%
2008 12%
2012 16%

I don't see a blue trend there

It is very possible that I am overly optimistic. It is frustrating to constantly hear that Texas is too red and it cannot be done when with an all hands on deck attitude we might just make a difference. How many people do you know who don't vote because "it won't change anything"? What if all those people voted? What if we get hispanics and whatever other blocs aren't voting currently to the polls? What if the state party and DNC and whatever other dem orgs make sure there is a dem in EVERY race? You know?

We NEED a Hispanic Governor to best represent the demographics of this state.
