We are too sheltered in our little DU cocoon...

After watching election results for over an hour, I am still struck with the huge amount of support for Romney. Hardly anyone in here ever says anything nice about him. It's a real cultural shock for me...

And that is in Connecticut.

Not sheltered. Aware.

This shouldn't be a close election. But the Repub supporters are getting older, whiter, and their demos are not the future of the country.

I see a distinct lack of Romney/Ryan bumper stickers in the red places I visit in my state: Orange County, CA and San Diego, CA and in the South (Texas, Georgia and Louisiana)

You couldn't go two blocks without seeing Bush/Cheney stickers back in the days.

People may vote for R/R, but they have no pride in that vote. Suits me just fine.

Tiny pockets of internet knew and we spread it to others, a few Lib. mags and newspapers knew and spread it to a few others and the Liberal hours on 1 network station knew and spread to a few others.

Too bad CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS and all the others did NOT inform the public about the real Mitt Romney.

and if "everybody" thinks Democrats have horns and a tail, it's really tough to be out of step with that.

That's where the support is coming from in those areas. If you asked them, I'm sure they'd mention they didn't have much use for Romney, they just had to vote against the people with the horns and tails so baby Jesus wouldn't cry.

And we don't live in a cocoon....there are most times when we have to go out into the world. There we have our cars spit on for our Obama bumper stickers, we have yard signs vandalized, we have to sit in a restaurant and hear someone talking about the n****r in the White House.

We are not sheltered, but this place is a haven.

Oh edit: Howdy FadedRose. You are asking too much of us.

Republicans running in other races, I have not seen one for Romney/Ryan and only one bumper sticker that was an out-of-towner visitor. I haven't met one Republican who supports him here in my town.

at least to me it does.

This past 4 years, this 2012 election and the upcoming 4 years has really shown a light on our weaknesses as a country.

Mitt Romney was almost elected POTUS and it should have never EVER been allowed to happen!

We have work to do and I honestly don't even know where to begin.

Majority of the red Texas political posts I saw were voting AGAINST abortion, Obama, democrats, ACA, marriage rights and welfare more than they were voting FOR Romney.

Any time I would bring up romneys character, those are the issues they would fall back on.
