Worked poll in Va. A repub told me I could be shot for doing that. I asked what he meant

He said Americans take freedom for granted. That around the world I could be shot.
It was totally bizarre. He was quite specific, pointing at me and repeating it. Finally he said again that Americans take freedom for granted, and I could be shot, and I said "I don't, that is why I vote Democratic"

Still very freaky.

There is a history of civil rights abuse by police in America. lalalu Nov 2012 #9
True, but your broad brush is patently unfair. There're also a lot of good law enforcement officers. Scuba Nov 2012 #11

The broad brush is based on facts. The people using water hoses and beating civil rights workers were police officers. The ones shooting student protestors on college campuses were police officers. A huge number of those involved in civil rights violations are police officers or connected to them. The ones who shot at a man 40 times for reaching for his wallet were police officers. Mayberry and Sheriff Andy were fiction.

He was trying to intimidate you.

Something similar happened to me the last Presidential election I worked. He backed down when I described my background.

Macho guy bull.
