McCarthy is advertising that the GOP will destroy Social Security and Medicare (plus Medicaid) if they control Congress after the mid-terms. He's saying it in plain daylight.
So it takes perhaps 60 words for the Dems, nationwide, to pitch their candidates, in the most effective campaign theme ever concocted:
TELL THE VOTERS: The GOP wants to destroy your Social Security AND your Medicare and Medicaid. They pledged to do so. They also want to eliminate student loan debt forgiveness. THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT. What do YOU want?

(9,037 posts)I've heard that before. I've told a couple of guys they would have probably squandered EVERYTHING and been left penniless. At least Social Security can give you a little SECURITY in your later years. Surrounded by idiots.

I am sure the over 50 crowd will be exempt from having their Social security taken away, so it will be the young people that will be screwed once again. Screwed by the Republican Boomers and Gen X'rs because they were too busy watching F-Boy Island to vote.

(7,434 posts)The Dems have morphed into a Constitution, establishment political party-- by necessity. They've had to fill the void left by genuine anarchists and fascists. The theme Bannon touts is "dismantling the administrative state." That's something akin to anarchy, and that's what Bannon and the Trumpers are promoting. The Stop the Steal stuff is more anarchy than conservative. What's conservative is a movement to protect the Constitution and the Rule of Law-- the last bastion. And that's where the Democrats are.
It's odd to remember that at one time, folks my age warned one another to never trust anyone over 30. And now it's us. We're the ones not to be trusted. I wouldn't trust us, either.
