All I need to do is think how different things could have been had that fucker not killed Bobby Kennedy. . . .
And what irks me more is that Sirhan Sirhan is supposed to be in prison for life. . . . As far as I can tell, that motherfucker has plenty of life still left in him. . .

(6,856 posts)Our democracy lives on a shoestring. Once people get an idea that you can assassinate politicians and walk free, EVER, there will be more violence.

(4,157 posts)LOATHED Ronald Reagan. Hinkley was certifiably insane. He was sick. He received treatment in a psychiatric facility for years. Sirhan Sirhan is just a murdering fucking liar.

(6,856 posts)Hinkley should not be free either UNLESS the jury was correct that he was insane. Even if the jury got it wrong, we have to give credence to that decision.
Sirhan was not insane. If there are death penalties for treason, there should be life without parole for political assassinations.

I agree with everyone else that said absolutely no parole.

(34,458 posts)Well, he can just fuck all the way off because I'm sure that Bobby Kennedy would've loved to have been able to do that since June 5, 1968. I was 12 and still remember laying in bed and hearing the bulletin coming over my transistor radio.

(4,157 posts)denying it in the 1990s. . . . He hasn't taken responsibility for his actions and is only mewling now, as he doesn't want to be in prison anymore. . . . He's had to have someone help him "sanitize" his file for the parole board.
He originally got the death penalty and got that commuted. He is lucky not to have been executed. I have no problem with that. But his his life sentence should remain unchanged.
For the record, I feel the exact same way about the Manson murderers who want out of prison now. No.

As opposed to Nixon, who kept it going for another four years, ending American ground involvement just in time for his re-election campaign.

(34,458 posts)He killed hope. I don't know how old you are, but the country was in turmoil. MLK Jr. had been assassinated two months before and the country was a powder keg. RFK offered hope for a better future. Instead, Sirhan's actions gave us Nixon and all the toxicity that came with it that we're still dealing with. I'm not okay with him "going home to live his life in peace" when he isn't even man enough to admit he did it.

He's Palestinian, but don't know if Israel would accept him
He's a Jordanian citizen, but wonder what they're policy is.
Sirhan also has significant mental health issues. This also makes him a poor risk for being accepted in the middle east. Last I read, he had converted to Jehovah Witness. (He changes his religion every so often) He was Catholic by birth, but he has been a Baptist, Seventh Day Adventist and a Rosicrucianist. He's a hot mess....
He say he wants to go home to his brother, but his brother lives in California.

(53 posts)You are NOT anti-death penalty.
If you are for the death penalty in any circumstance then you are pro-death penalty.

(25,567 posts)It legally cannot be done. He has a life sentence and the only options are:
He is released
He stays in prison
BigDemVoter
(4,157 posts)He should simply spend his life in prison. . . . I NEVER advocated the death penalty for him or anyone else.
NONETHELESS. . . I think I would personally prefer it myself to spending my own life in prison.
