Am I right to be very very worried about the Nov election in Florida? You know,

the logistics, the location, the workers, etc., etc???
Will people who have lost their home, or have had major or even minor destruction feel like voting?

What huge implications for our country, let alone Florida.

Dear Leader praise is already being coordinated. And I think people wouldn’t want to change administrations in the middle of this recovery.

... it will depress participation among economically disadvantaged people. The Governor and his friends don't impress me as folks without the financial means to avoid the harsh consequences of a storm. We'll have to see how DeSantis handles the crisis and, more importantly, how the media portrays his efforts. My guess is the FL GOP will go all out in response, and take credit for the Federal/Biden assistance.

Not that I have any hope of us rooting out the Fascist at this time anyway.

Not that I have any hope of us rooting out the Fascist at this time anyway. DeSantis is not the problem, he is a symptom of the problem of Florida voters.

The coastal counties most affected by the storm vote +60% Republican.

Stats from 2018 Governor's race below

- Charlotte County - 62% DeSantis ( Cape Coral / Punta Gorda )

- Lee County - 60% DeSantis ( Ft. Myers )

- Collier County - 64% DeSantis ( Naples )

18. I was wondering how Florida handles absentee voting

Since many lost their homes, permanently and temporarily, may be living elsewhere, can't get there to vote in person, can't get mail, meeting deadline for requesting absentee ballot, address matching issues, etc. I would assume they'd want to make it easier this time around.

Still, I had looked up the voting record of these counties and saw the numbers you posted, and had the same thought. Florida overall voting margins are close, so disruptions in red areas could make the difference in electing Democrats.

Herschel Walker's campaign is positioning him farther right. (!) I suspect that means he's not coming across as politically vicious enough to satisfy them. Beating and threatening to kill his wife isn't political meanness, just losing his temper. Now, i she'd been a Democrat, they could have used that.

I haven’t really delved into it, but seem to have read that nothing has been done by the governor or legislature to address major problems with homeowners insurance in Florida
