In my tiny universe

Even though I try to keep a low profile, I'm known in my small office as the "smart one" regarding politics. Four years ago, I helped some of my less informed colleagues register to vote and directed them to information about the candidates.

This year, I talked through the issues with one of our new hires, fresh out of college. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will make the right choice. I learned that it is easy to scare the young and uninformed when it comes to money. I tried to steer her through the tissue of lies and fabrications that makes up the GOP "platform." I showed her the math that isn't there.

I have already posted that our resident tea partier wants no part of Rmoney the Cyborg.

But still my favorite voting story is the young lady who'd never voted until she came to me in 2008, begging me to show her how to "vote for Obama." She came to me today in a panic. I showed her that she is still registered, and where her polling place was. She said, "Obama's got to win again! He's only just got started. He has to finish the job!"

And, my daughter voted on Sunday for the first time. Straight ticket. Smarticle, that kid.
